Since you asked all nice-like

Decorating tunes

Finally finished painting the little room. Thanks in particular to the Beatles with their Octopus' Garden & the Who with Teenage Wasteland for making this slightly less painful. Now to plug in the elliptical and go, go, go!

Choose your own adventure

There are all these rules that we follow. If not, surely chaos would soon ensue. Right? I mean, riiiiiiiight?!

I don't expect to magically grow wings when jumping off a cliff. Definitely not! No worries, I'm happy & much too lazy to climb up to reach a cliff edge anyhow.

I do sort of think that it's a bit of a waste to spend one's life making certain that a dirty dish never sits in the sink or that the laundry should all be folded perfectly.

Maybe that structure is good for most people. I can't really see how. Maybe as a society we've decided that if we slip up a little, we're just going to say 'screw it' and give up altogether (and all together). I can see it now - no running water, burrowing little hobbit holes in garbage pits, grunting language. Mmmmnnnn, smelly.

Of course, maybe everything would be just fine. Maybe, if we didn't disinfect every surface, every 20 minutes, we would still somehow be alright? Is it possible?

Practically impractical

I looooooove snuggling up by the fireplace in the winter. It's one of the few silver linings of the cold, dark, desolate times of year.

It's a bit of a waste as, even with closing glass doors, a lot of heat escapes up the chimney once the fire is over. We think about getting a stove, or perhaps an insert, but that is just not as appealing as the primitive fire and having to sweep the sparks back in.

It would be fun to have one of those crazy-big fireplaces. We could stick logs in that would go for days. I also like when they build the racks into the walls (perfect for termite infestations no doubt).

Mr likes the idea of pulling out the center wall and having a sort of 360 fireplace. Not sure I am so into that. There are some sort of, er, contemporary ones that hang from the ceiling - he'd probably like those too.

Well, enough said. Time to go get some more wood.

Doggy headstand

Sometimes it's hard work being so handsome and famous. You just want the paparazzi to leave you alone and not have to even pretend to be a role model. Sometimes, it's just so stressful that you have to bury your head and rest for a bit...

Hokie hell

Aunt Patty sent a sweatshirt. There's been much debate as to whether it's mine or his. If we were a nice couple, then we could share. However, only he is nice. I like my stuff. I turn into a husband chomping zombie at the very notion of sharing...

Polar Morn

Thank you Mum for the beautiful 'falling leaves' scarf - I am a lucky duckie!
I love how long, soft and warm it is. It gets the Midian seal of approval too. Back to my projects - you have inspired me...

Post-holiday thought

Most trees are down, the Menorahs and Kinaras stowed, and half the junk you rec'd is in the trunk of your car ready for the next trip to Goodwill. You are broke and fat and want nothing more than to cozy up in your burrow until the spring.
Well, that's me anyhow.
For you motivated do-gooders out there, considering your options, let me give you one that seems pretty useful. The Urban Ministry is collecting for their 'winter fund' This has to be a tough time as everyone has made their end-of-year and holiday feel-goody contributions. Anyhow, guilt has it's uses, but that's not what this is about - just something I came across and wanted to share.

Bedraggled travel rat

Wonderful weekend back in MA. Wonderful to be home. Who's a pretty girl? Not this one, look at those greasy locks - time for a bath!

Crazy fun

A whole day of waiting around airports for non-existent snow was still worth it. Yesterday, I got to see more wonderful, old friends in one day than I did for any given month that I lived in Waltham. Let's just see what I can cram into my Sunday. Tomorrow, another day of travel.
Here's one of the bands we saw last night. Although, I think these tracks were made pre-Slamber and she really was a big part of what I liked. So, will have to listen more thoroughly some other time. I liked the number 'Fanciful Man' as well as 'Stripper' and the song about a specific pregnant person. Think the first one is at the linked site.
