The natural balance

Clearly we are destroying our fellow co-inhabitants on this planet at an alarming rate. Goodbye big mammals, hasta la vista creatures of the sea, happy trails northern flying squirrels. Now is the time for our farmed, cloned and mutant friends to shine.

In any case, with this rise in decimation, there is also apparently a huge rise in activism, both armchair and otherwise. This should be a good reaction, no? There are so many different groups vying though, how does one decide which is the most useful to get behind?

Today the NY Times posted a piece about how the U.S. Dept. of Fish & Wildlife is totally under siege. There are so many groups demanding that a huge variety of our fellow creatures get protection under the 'endangered species' title. It is a sad state of affairs. At this rate, we'll soon have more endangered species than fish in the ocean.
