Drive seemed a bit grey and blah, but we alternated driving and towards the end, Curt found Me Talk Pretty One Day on Audible. So, that helped.
Mr discovered a lovely place for dinner called the Lockeland Table in East Nashville. Awesome/interesting food and company. We sat at a communal table (for the dingbats who haven't made reservations:) and met a really cool, local couple who gave us a bit of local advice as well as just being plain nice.
The next morning got a bit thrown by the time change and the time zone change. What the freak time is it? Meh, who cares?
Got downtown fairly early and eventually parked (we found one lot that was $30 for the day - 3 blocks up the road, another that was almost identical at $8 - strange) Walked down towards the Frist, but first haaaad to stop in the Lifeway Christian bookstore/gift shop. This must be the mother of the mini one we have in Greensboro.
A lot of times during this trip we found people with strong beliefs and agendas. I anticipated feeling very much like a fraud stepping into the store, but tried hard to be respectful. Some of the stuff did leave me feeling as though there were a gaping chasm between where my thoughts reside and where these folks were coming from. However, it was interesting none-the-less.
Made it over to the museum and checked out a photo exhibit that didn't do much for us and a somewhat gloomy exhibition of German Expressionism (I know, shocking). The building itself is quite lovely - wonderful art deco detail.
From there we went off to one of the worst lunches probably consumed in a long time. There is an Irish Pub right downtown which seems like a great place to go and get totally wasted if you don't care about cost, time, or basic hygiene. However, the best thing I can say about the lunch is that it didn't make us ill enough to have to taste it a second time. If you look on Yelp, I am certain that you'll be able to figure out not to go here.
Hit the Hatch Show Print Shop and then headed back to crash for a bit.
Took a while between the motorcycle rally and all the traffic in town for the Country Music Awards. Good people-watching and a lot better to have to wait in traffic for that than because some poor sod has had a horrid accident.
Ate some good Indian at Shagor...
