This is me...

...next week

How dare he work somewhere other than home? Well, Mr. big-city boy, I am going to watch some serious chick flicks in your absence. I might even stoop to my old standby of Colin Firth's original Mr. Darcy. Uncle says that it's supposed to be women with the wet shirts that does it, but think Pride & Prejudice might be the exception. Mnnnnnn. Something to look forward to. Mnnnnnn.

I think this might be a good introduction to English for my sister-in-law. What do you think gals? She is from Brazil, so there is a good chance that she's not led a repressed enough life to be so into a wet shirt. Hmnnn.

Probably going to have to do High Fidelity and Unforgiven. Any other suggestions?

Runny jam

Okay, I went a little too light on the pectin. However, the ginger-lemon-berry marmalade tastes a-ma-zing. So. who cares if it runs off your toast a little.
Since it is a bit more like syrup, thinking maybe it would be good over yogurt/ice cream/etc. A couple of tablespoons might also add a nice zing to a pitcher of sangria. Mnnnn. I will find a use for this stuff!

Burning up

I at least expended a few calories on air-drumming...

"Loose lips sink ships, Loose lips sink ships, Loose lips sink ships...
Can we show a little discipline?
Can we show...a little discipline?
Can we?"

Good girls eat salad

I have been baaaaaaaaaaaaad - going to repent and eat salad now.
Um, just found a slice of Janice's blackberry pie in the food box. Uh-oh!

A cake in the hand is worth two in the head.

Cool

I love the civil servants being hung & that the piece is in a minister's office - what a great sense of humour...

Insomniacs unite

I love the sound of rain hammering onto the roof. So why isn't it soothing me to sleep tonight? All the others are purring away magnificently right now and I should be too.

Which witch is worse?

My friend/boss at work (everyone at work is actually my boss as I am but a happy drone, buzzing around the flowers) and I were talking relationships today. One tangent took us off into the realm of why divorcee's always blame the person who ran off with their partner instead of the actual person who left them.
Really, I mean, if you love someone then should it be so surprising that someone else might love them too? Logically, you should be pissed at the one you chose as they ought to have been worthy of your trust. Of course, when we're that hurt, I guess logic is easily evaded.

Oh, and sort of unrelated, but my mind jumps about...

Someone once said to me something along the lines of "I love you, so I can't be your friend" That doesn't sound like any kind of love at all. In fact, that seems more like "I want what I want and screw you if I don't get it." But perhaps that is more honest than pretending to be someone's buddy whilst imagining something different. So one is actually rather mean and one is dishonest. Hmnnn....

Time to walk the beasty and think nicer thoughts on this gorgeous spring day!

Best. Sunday. Ever.

So much anxiety and now back to my blissed out normal self. Yay! Lazy Sunday's are the best. Must've been something to do with the moon.

Oh, and by the way

Yum!

Bad girl

I am forgetting everything!
A very belated Happy Birthday Clovis. Poor pup, at least Auntie Denise happened to fortuitously send him some cookies. Otherwise, the teendogger would've been completely without.

Erin go bragh

I can type it, even if I'm not Irish, right? That freaky horror movie leprachaun's not going to come for me. Fingers crossed. Anyhow, here's my bit o' green for today...

Collins - the Good Harvest

Stopped off to see the V&A. It's been under works for what seems like years now. I miss walking thru the old, medieval hall first thing. But, guess they need to make the big bucks with their gift shop. The Constables & the Islamic art galleries are my favs. Also, always get a nice feeling when I see this picture...

Bristol

Wonderful family, St. Mary Redcliffe church, a jazz concert & the SS Great Britain - such fun!

Wells

Wells is so neat. It seems very different from other cathedrals we've been to. It was bone-numbingly cold that day, so skipped the Bishop's palace with it's bell-ringing fowl.

Mum tells me that a wicked ancestor was the Bishop of Bath and Wells in 15-something-something. The story is that after stripping all the lead off and having 10 children with a renegade nun, he sold the cathedral for $2k (guessing that was a crazy sum back then) & the church had to later on buy it back. Ha! Villains are so much more fun than the Saintly (well, in retrospect & just the minor villains really).

Ipad heaven

Mum really has the hang of her new Ipad and it has given her so much entertainment. Thank you Uncle Robert!

Bath

Bath Abby has wonderful Jacob's ladders on the front with Angels ascending and descending between heaven and earth. There's the compulsory tourist shot and disturbing adverts featuring Iggy Pop. Maybe I should punk out and go reread Persuasion.

West Country

We took a side jaunt out to the west country. Cousin Ros was good enough to take us to visit Great Aunt Gerda. Here are some views from her amazing garden...

Temperate house

I love the temperate house. Also, clivia always makes me think of happy days in Wayland. Nice.

My parallel life

Somewhere in an alternate universe, I live in England and work here...

End of the orchids

Kew was just starting to take down their orchid festival. Still incredible. A little humid though.

Lovely old Kew

Kew gardens on a sunny spring day, what could be better?
