There seem to be these ideas about strong, empowered women. Most gals I know are indeed strong and a wonderful powerhouse for their families. They race around juggling huge responsibilities and handling copious amounts of stress.
This is true for most fellas I know too. But, of course, no one would ever compliment the guys on being strong. At best they are considered to be living up to the expectations always on them to provide stability.
If a husband doesn't keep up with bills or the daily slog, then he is a disappointment. The wife is simply following her dreams or staying home with kids or just lucky.
Also, if we're going down this path, why are overly-confident women called "sassy?" It seems like a way to nicely state that a gal is annoying as all hell. Is there an equivalently awful term for men? There must be. Anyhow, if any of you bastards call me sassy, I will throttle you.
